The Lord’s Prayer

One of my favorite moments in worship is when we say the Lord's Prayer. I love it because it demonstrates the diversity of Christian faith represented in the chapel. Familiarity and rhythm take over and we pray what we know and what we were taught "in the language most comfortable to you." It, of course, is especially clear when we pray "trespasses" or "debts." This is the only church space I have been in that leaves room for both, and I love it.

I also love saying this prayer because it unites Christians across time, culture, and language to pray how Jesus taught.

And it does beg the question, why do we pray this? Is it just because Jesus taught it? And why does it look different in different places?
